Welcome to Paxten in Progress!
I am so excited to start this blogging journey. I have dreamed of having my own blog since I started using Tumblr back in middle school. There has always been something holding me back whether it was because I wasn’t sure what I would write about or because I’m not the most tech savvy girl. I knew that as much as I wanted to share my writing with others, I wasn’t ready. Now, I feel like I’m in a place where nothing is holding me back and I’m ready to share what I have to say.
You saw in my headline or on my about page that the main focus of this blog will be mental illness. This is a topic that has become very close to my heart over the past nine years. After suffering from major depression and anxiety for many years and recently being diagnosed with a mood disorder I know that I have a lot of knowledge to share with others. I plan to write about things like what mental illnesses really are, what it is like living everyday with a mental illness, how to know if you or a loved one needs help, etc. If you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know! I really want this blog to help people see that mental illness can affect so many different people in so many different ways. If you think these topics might be something you would be interested in then stick around!
Just a little disclaimer: I can’t promise that this blog will be perfect. In fact, I know it won’t be perfect. It will be messy, emotional, brutally honest, maybe funny, and very, very real. It will probably be all over the place and some of it might not even make sense. It might be full of run on sentences and grammar mistakes. I’ll probably cry some and maybe you will too. That’s okay though, because we’re making progress. We’re making progress in ending the stigma that surrounds mental illness and expanding our knowledge of how we can help others and ourselves.
