23 Things I Learned in 23 Years
For those of you that don’t know, my birthday was this month. I turned 23 on February 17th. This year I definitely feel older than I have in years past. Maybe my age is catching up with me or maybe it’s just because of recent life events, either way I know I feel like an adult this year. I also feel like I have learned a lot in my 23 years of life. I know there’s still so much more I have to learn as life continues, but I figured I’d share some of the more important things that stick out to me. So here’s 23 things I’ve learned in my 23 years of life so far…
- I am loved.
- My family and friends want what is best for me.
- Sometimes people grow apart and need to go separate ways, but that doesn’t mean your love for them has to change.
- Change is constant.
- People will judge you no matter what you do.
- An open mind will get you far.
- Having a positive outlook and looking at the glass half full is a lot more fun than looking at the glass half empty.
- You have to fill your cup before you can take care of others.
- Not everyone is going to like you.
- Hanging out in his parent’s basement isn’t a date.
- Holding grudges causes more harm than good.
- It’s okay to ask for help.
- Trust your gut.
- It’s okay to take a break.
- It’s alright if you don’t meet traditional expectations and timelines in life.
- You have to do what is best for you.
- It is totally okay for you to not know enough about a topic to have an opinion on it.
- Embrace your feelings.
- Take lots of pictures.
- You are your pet’s world.
- You are not the same person you were in high school and that’s okay.
- You are allowed to change your mind about something you were so sure about before.
- Life is hard and it is also amazing.
