23 Things I Learned in 23 Years

For those of you that don’t know, my birthday was this month. I turned 23 on February 17th. This year I definitely feel older than I have in years past. Maybe my age is catching up with me or maybe it’s just because of recent life events, either way I know I feel like an adult this year. I also feel like I have learned a lot in my 23 years of life. I know there’s still so much more I have to learn as life continues, but I figured I’d share some of the more important things that stick out to me. So here’s 23 things I’ve learned in my 23 years of life so far…

  1. I am loved.
  2. My family and friends want what is best for me.
  3. Sometimes people grow apart and need to go separate ways, but that doesn’t mean your love for them has to change.
  4. Change is constant.
  5. People will judge you no matter what you do.
  6. An open mind will get you far.
  7. Having a positive outlook and looking at the glass half full is a lot more fun than looking at the glass half empty.
  8. You have to fill your cup before you can take care of others.
  9. Not everyone is going to like you.
  10. Hanging out in his parent’s basement isn’t a date.
  11. Holding grudges causes more harm than good.
  12. It’s okay to ask for help.
  13. Trust your gut.
  14. It’s okay to take a break.
  15. It’s alright if you don’t meet traditional expectations and timelines in life.
  16. You have to do what is best for you.
  17. It is totally okay for you to not know enough about a topic to have an opinion on it.
  18. Embrace your feelings.
  19. Take lots of pictures.
  20. You are your pet’s world.
  21. You are not the same person you were in high school and that’s okay.
  22. You are allowed to change your mind about something you were so sure about before.
  23. Life is hard and it is also amazing.
